The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is an African examination body that has its primary aim of conducting the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for secondary school candidates in May/June and private candidates in November/December.

The main Aim of the Council is to:

• Assist in the development of good and sound education
• Ensure the maintenance of academic standards
• Give the people of West Africa a vision of the potentials that lies beyond examinations
