About The Scholarship

A parastatal of the Adamawa state government created by Law No. 10 of December 2008 is the Adamawa State Scholarship Trust Fund.

The Adamawa state government was forced to critically reexamine its role in providing students with bursaries, special and full scholarships, and student loan schemes at both local and international levels as a result of contemporary challenges in educational financing brought on by the geometric increase in student population and shrinking government finances.

In light of this, the state government decided it was time to modernise its system for awarding scholarships. Hence, the creation of ASSTF, whose duties and authority include:

  • Source for funds and scholarships from within and outside Nigeria
  • Award scholarships to eligible indigenes of Adamawa state.

Adamawa State Scholarship Categories

The Adamawa State Scholarship Trust Fund (ASSTF) is categorised into five categories and they’re as follows:

  1. Special scholarship
  2. Full scholarship
  3. Bursary
  4. Foreign scholarship
  5. Students loan

Special Scholarships

The Adamawa State special scholarships is meant to provide care for students with disabilities, special support and gifted children. They are furtherly listed below:

  • Internally Displaced Students (IDS)
  • Girl-Child
  • Physically Challenged
  • Gifted Child Special scholarship provide tuition/school fees, feeding, accommodation, books, other learning materials and transportation.

It provides for students from the basic up to the tertiary level of education and is a local scholarship.

Full Scholarships

The full scholarship is based on the performance of students  from various Institutions of Nigeria.

The cumulative grade point average (CGPA) is a key factor in its requirements and 3.00 CGPA and above is needed to apply.

This kind of scholarship gives the indigenous recipient a certain sum of money to pay for tuition and other educational expenses.

It is applicable to recognised undergraduate courses at Nigerian universities, monotechnics, and polytechnics.

Bursary

The bursary is for indigenous students enrolled in different high institutions in Nigeria.

Courses that fulfil the state’s need for manpower are given priority. The amount given to beneficiaries varies depending on the course or field of study.

The scholarship is available for students from the following levels; ND, NCE, HND, undergraduate, and postgraduate.

Foreign Scholarships

This category of scholarship are meant for Adamawa State Indigenes whose course or field of study is not in Nigeria Universities.

It is open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students regardless of the country they choose for their study.

Students Loan

Students are given opportunity to collect loans for paying tuition fees and this is fully provided by the Adamawa State government.

Scholarship Requirements

If you’re a fresher in the following institutions, then you’re allowed to apply for the Scholarship:

  • NCE I
  • ND 1
  • HND 1
  • Direct Entry (both 100 & 200 level)
